After Hours Veterinary Emergency Clinic and its sister brand, Guilford College Animal Hospital, came to us for a much-needed rebranding. Their goal was to modernize their image and bring their design, messaging, visuals, collateral, and website into the current decade.
Their previous brand and website were outdated, lacking the professional polish and authority they deserved. They knew it was time for a change—something that reflected their dedication to exceptional care while earning the respect and trust of their community.
Another unique challenge? Reputation management. Being veterinarians comes with immense pressure. While many clients are grateful for life-saving care, others struggle with grief, especially after the loss of a beloved pet. Balancing these emotions in their branding and communication required a thoughtful and empathetic approach. What a rewarding project to be part of!
To truly understand where we were starting from, we dug into the internet archives to review their old site — a snapshot of how much potential this project had. The beauty of such a challenge? No matter what we did, the improvement was going to be substantial.
Initially, we aimed a little too modern for their taste. (We suspect they’ll appreciate that forward-thinking logos above about 10 years from now! 😉) However, veterinary clients are often conservative and hesitant to embrace bold changes — understandable given their demanding schedules and focus on care.
We took their feedback to heart and delivered a refreshed look that stayed true to their original logo’s essence while modernizing layouts, imaging, and overall branding. The result was a polished and professional aesthetic that inspires trust while improving usability and design across the board. A relatively static but polished solution: sleek stock images, educational resources, clear directions, and easy accessibility.
